Sustainable design is achieved through an integrated design and delivery process that enhances the natural and built environment. Advancements in lighting technology give us the potential to significantly improve the energy efficiency of electric lighting solutions, but this can only be realized when the technology is employed as part of a holistic and purposeful design. The goal of a lighted environment is not just to generate light as efficiently as possible, but to create lighted environments that support the visual activities performed, and have a positive impact on our perception and experience of the architecture.
