The Art of Specifying for Deep Energy Savings
Session 6 - Room B
Wednesday, October 26
1:00 - 2:00 PM
The built environment accounts for half of the nation’s energy use, with lighting responsible for nearly 45 percent of total commercial building consumption. New efficiency mandates require action. Successful integration of advanced lighting with building management systems and emerging information technologies is key for optimizing performance, increasing grid reliability, and moving facilities toward deep energy savings with the goal of becoming net-zero. By selecting leading-edge technologies and deploying appropriate lighting assemblies, we can improve illumination quality while reducing operating costs with the goal of buildings that are not only energy-efficient, but also dynamically controllable for functioning in a demand response world. By integrating systems that can help buildings harvest significant energy savings, lighting systems meet end-users’ goals of achieving netzero operations while increasing building value. Michael will explain harnessing digital energy and working within the new world of real-time energy pricing by describing lessons learned from installations of smart lighting and building energy management systems.
