Title 24 Changes to Outdoor and Sign Lighting

Changes to the California Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards were adopted in 2008. They are scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2010. This presentation will cover changes to general information, outdoor and sign lighting controls, and prescriptive requirements for nonresidential outdoor lighting and sign lighting.

Gary Flamm is the lighting program lead for the California Energy Commission, leading Title 20 and Title 24 lighting appliance and building energy efficiency Standards. Other activities have been serving on technical or advisory groups for the Advanced Lighting Guidelines (ALG), California High Performance School (CHPS) design guidelines, the State of California Sustainable Building Blueprint, and the IESNA Energy Management Committee. He continues to be actively involved with the local section of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. Mr. Flamm has trained thousands of people in the California Title 24 lighting energy efficiency Standards.
